Let me go back a little .. to the Vision of NVRLND. I have worked in the Entertainment Industry for over 20 years performing all over the UK and internationally. For many years I have worked alongside people and built up their company’s. Lockdown gave me a lot of time to reflect and realise that, it’s ok to prioritise your dreams as I am sure you will all agree, we never know what’s around the corner! So, I finally made the decision to take the leap and create something of my own. With the help of two incredible partners and their wealth of knowledge and experience, NVRLND was born.

I like to think of us as a three-prong attack. Ess is not just a performer I have admired for many years that instantly makes you smile when you see him dance, he has a successful business and a passion to always be the best version of himself that he can be. Inevitably this is reflected in the success of his business. He is the brains behind the branding, website and a lot of the socials.

Colin is a businessman like no other I have met before. A character you will never forget. An addictive personality that changes the dynamic in any room and after meeting him, you instantly want to up your A-game and strive for more in anything you do. He has a wealth of business experience and runs a very successful Events Management business. He is the business brain to NVRLND.

I am the performer with a heart that beats faster when I create opportunities for performers that love what they do. I love to see them happy. As I said I have managed events and performers for over 20 years and I eat, sleep, breathe what I do. I am the one who organises the team and manages our bookings and everything that goes along with this.

I think having 16 months away from performing in Lockdown and seeing so many of my team struggling mentally in jobs that killed their creative passion, pushed me even more into making sure NVRLND is a success.

So why NVRLND? My Dad retired in 2020 and many years ago he was given the company name Neverland ltd. It had absolutely no relevance to what he did for a living but something that as a child I always thought was magical – my Dad owned Neverland!  I have always loved the name and when he retired, he wanted me to carry on the company name. I think it perfectly captures what we do. Anything is possible in Neverland. All dreams come true in Neverland. All the magic happens in Neverland. There’s no better name for the company we want to create.

With this in mind, I knew the characters of the photoshoot needed to reflect who we are but I equally didn’t want Peter Pan swinging from a tree! I wanted magic, mystery, unique acts, fantasy and to show that anything can be your reality if you chose it to be. Alice in Wonderland has always been a very popular theme for clients to book from us and I decided to fuse the two themes to create the concept of the shoot.

I wanted to stay away from anything typical and expected. Our company caption is “Expect the unexpected” so the shoot had to be so. I recreated each Wonderland character the NVRLND way and we added in a few surprises that we expect to see in Wonderland. We created characters for NVRLND that will captivate any audience and add a sense of wonder to any event that they perform at.

The shoot comprised of Alice, Mad Hatter, and White Rabbit – myself, Colin and Ess, Tik and Tok, The Cheshire Cat contortion aerialist, The Queen of hearts and her sassy Queen-ettes, and Guardsman and Tweedle Dum and Dee – the funniest acrobats I know. Then it was time to add in some NVRLND magic. Butterflies, Tropical Birds, Indians, walking and talking Hedges and beautiful Flower Heads Enchanted Fairies, Fire breathing Fairy Nymphs and Flowers. The Mirror Men even made an appearance having a dance in a field of vibrant yellow!

We had acts in a river on stilts, acrobats in trees, a snake performer in a hidden water cove, and The Queen and her ladies took a tractor ride around the village –  leaving the locals in complete wonder what was happening that sunny Sunday!

The day was busy .. no madness – but worth every single second! To not only create the visuals we have but to have all the acts together performing for the day was something that made me so proud. I am not ashamed to admit as I was walking my dogs that evening and the madness started to settle and everything started to sink in, I had a little cry! Anyone who knows me knows I cry when I am happy too and that night, for the first time in a long time, I felt so proud of what we had achieved that day. To feel so much happiness from acts able to perform again, even if it was just for the locals wandering around Holywell Green, really made me smile.
